Sases for Sox: Gene Lamont

Gene Lamont was the manager of the favorite Sox team of my childhood: the “Good Guys Wear Black” team of 1993. He also led them to a first place finish in the strike-shortened 1994 season. In what turned out to be an awful move, the Sox replaced Lamont with the comically inept Terry Bevington after a bad start to the 1995 season. I’ll never understand why they cut bait with Lamont so quickly.

Lamont also played for the Tigers from 1970-75. He was never more than a part-time player.

I’m not sure why it took me so long to send to Lamont. He’s been a solid mail signer for a long time, but I guess I was too lazy to send until now. Better late than never. I’ll be sending this to Lerrin LaGrow next. Thanks Mr. Lamont!
