While Cease is off to a rather inauspicious start, I still have faith in him. I don’t think he’ll be an ace, but I think he’ll be a solid #3/4 starter for years to come. He just has to get his walks down. That’s no easy task, but I think he can do it. So I went ahead and picked up a couple of signed rookies.
Project Rookie Card: Dane Dunning
Other than a very short and unimpressive postseason start, Dunning had a very promising rookie year in 2020. While Dylan Cease was more highly touted, Dunning definitely had the better season. While I don’t think either of them will be an ace, I expect both to be mainstays of the rotation for the next few years.

More New Bats!
After picking up Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert bats a few weeks ago, I had an itch to get signed bats from the White Sox other star hitters, Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson. It was great timing, as the bats arrived on the same day that Abreu was named AL MVP.
New Certified Autographed Cards
I picked up a few new certified cards over the last couple of weeks. Other than Zack Collins and Jim Landis, these are the first autographs in my collection from any of these players.
3 New Frank Thomas Cards
Tom Orr recently held a reasonably priced signing with Frank Thomas, and I sent in 3 cards. I received the cards last week.
I’ve decided to send in 2-3 cards for every Thomas signing that has an affordable fee for cards. Funds permitting, of course.
New Bats!
I haven’t added any new bats to the collection in quite some time, so I’m very happy to add these. They are also my first autographs from Luis Robert (just won a Gold Glove) and Eloy Jimenez (just won a Silver Slugger).
Luis Vizcaino 2005 World Series Baseball… Finally!!!
I have been trying to get a 2005 World Series baseball signed by Luis Vizcaino for years. Years ago, somebody got one signed for me in the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, they got it signed in blue sharpie. Then, he was scheduled to do signing at a show in Chicago earlier this year. Then COVID happened, and the show was canceled at the last minute.
All the while I was checking eBay regularly, to no avail. Until now. A couple of Vizcaino WS balls finally popped up, and I snagged one. Behold!
Vizcaino was the last player I needed. I have all 25 players that were on the World Series roster, as well as Frank Thomas. I’ve never felt the need to get people like Brandon McCarthy and Brian Anderson on WS baseballs, as they weren’t on the World Series roster.
16×20 Completed
When I got this 16×20 signed by Paul Konerko and Frank Thomas, I doubted I’d ever get Magglio Ordonez to complete it. I’m VERY happy to say I was wrong! This is now one of my favorite 16x20s in my collection.
